SAGE addresses directly the requirements of core users dealing with implementation of the WFD and STS. It reflects different environmental conditions (boreal, central European, Alpine, Mediterranean), different information levels (European, regional, national, local), and different Core User Groups: European Commission (EC), European Environmental Agency (EEA - represented by the European Topic Centre - Terrestrial Ecosystems (ETC-TE),complete coverage in significantly reduced scales on international level Ministries of Environment from member states and local end user groups; e.g. federal state ministries or regional water / soil authorities. This structure has significantly influenced the composition of the study team which currently comprises 9 national and local bodies from Austria, France, Germany, Spain, and Sweden and the EEA. The working team of 20 partners comprises service providers, system developers, science team, strategic group and consultants. Due to their high interest in SAGE, the core users actively participate in the project, their activities being coordinated by the ETC-TE.
